SHAKE IT UP LIKE JOE: A ZOO(M) PLAY

While Zookeeper Mary and her team of animals prepare for a visit from the zoo inspector, an unannounced guest arrives, throwing the unflappable Mary for a loop. Unbeknownst to the animals, their fearless leader does have one fear: mice. And the surprise visitor, Mimo, happens to be such a creature. By helping Mary confront her anxieties and insecurities, the animals learn to face issues of their own. In the end, everyone comes to see that understanding what makes us different can also help to unite us.

Inspired by the real-life Mary J. Wilson, this made-for-the-moment Zoom play explores how loyal friends (as well as perceived foes) can help us overcome fears about others and confront doubts about ourselves.
